Six on The Green is let directly by us. We're not an agency and we don't have a portfolio — there's one cottage, and it's this one. If something isn't right while you're here, you can ring us and we'll come round.
A period cottage facing the village green, ten minutes from Sandringham.
Six on The Green is a two-bedroom period cottage on the old part of North Wootton's village green — a handful of houses, the former schoolhouse, the church, and a lot of sky.
Downstairs there's a sitting room with unusually high ceilings, a period fireplace and a wood burner, and a kitchen breakfast room that opens onto an enclosed garden. There's a cloakroom off the rear hall. Upstairs, the principal bedroom sits above the sitting room and looks straight out across the green; there's a twin room alongside it and the family bathroom between.
The house is understood to have once formed part of the Castle Rising Estate, and is thought to have been the original manor house before it was divided into two cottages. Castle Rising itself, with its enormous Norman keep, is a mile and a half up the road.
It's four minutes' walk to a pub and a shop, ten minutes in the car to Sandringham, and under half an hour to the beach at Hunstanton. King's Lynn station is four miles away, and King's Cross an hour and forty minutes from there.

High ceilings, a period fireplace and a wood burner, with logs provided from October to March. A smart TV, and enough room to spread out with the papers on a wet afternoon.
Generously equipped and set up for people who actually want to cook — dishwasher, decent pans, proper knives. Room to eat in here, or carry it out to the garden.
The principal bedroom sits above the sitting room at the front, with a super king bed and a view over the green. The second is a twin. Four in total, comfortably — two adults and two children, or two couples who don't mind sharing a bathroom.
A family bathroom upstairs between the two bedrooms, and a WC on the ground floor — which you'll appreciate after a muddy walk, and so will the dog.
Fully enclosed and laid to lawn, with a barbecue and somewhere to sit out. Enclosed matters if you have dogs: no lead needed at seven in the morning.
Heating, electricity, linen and towels are all included in the price. So is the changeover clean — there's no separate fee added at the end.

Prices are for the whole cottage, with cleaning, linen, heating and electricity all included. No booking fees, ever.
You'll find us on Airbnb too, and we're glad if that's how you found us. But the booking sites take their cut of every stay, and it's built into the price you see there. Come to us directly and that comes off instead.

North Wootton is in Domesday as Wdetuna, the settlement near the woods. It still has woods, a green, a church, a pub and a shop — and the marshes run west from the village all the way to The Wash.
There's a longer version of this in a folder in the kitchen, but here's the short one.
A mile and three quarters away, next to the castle this cottage is said to have belonged to. Aged steaks, fresh fish, and a roast on Sundays worth booking ahead for.
Time it right and tens of thousands of wading birds lift off The Wash at once. Check the tide tables before you go — it only works on the big ones.
Woodland one way, big skies and saltmarsh the other. Both start at the end of the lane, and neither needs the car.
